The Huawei Pocket S clamshell phone is all set to go official on Nov. 2 in China. Ahead of the launch, the device is now listed for pre-order on JD, Suning, and other Chinese retailer sites. It will be the second clamshell phone with a foldable screen from the brand after the Huawei P50 Pocket, which was announced in December 2021.
It is speculated that the major difference between the original and upcoming Pocket flip phone is the chipset. While the P50 Pocket came equipped with the Snapdragon 888 4G chipset, the Pocket S is said to arrive with the Snapdragon 778G 4G chipset onboard.
Reports have claimed that the Pocket S will be equipped with a foldable OLED display that offers a 120Hz refresh rate and will run on the HarmonyOS 3. The device is likely to have Huawei’s own XMAGE image processing technology, which will assist in capturing better shots.
There will be a secondary display on the back of the Pocket S, which will display the notifications. It is expected to arrive in multiple colors, such as blue, pink, green, and yellow. Some reports have claimed that the device will also come in black and white. Rumors are rife that the Pocket S will come in 256 GB and 512 GB storage variants. Both models are likely to cost 4,999 Yuan (~$693) and 6,999 Yuan (~$970), respectively.
At present, there is no information on the cameras and battery of the Pocket S. However, the device is expected to have support for 40W charging. Apart from the Pocket S, Huawei will also be announcing the MateStation X all-in-one desktop PC on Nov. 2 in China.
