At the Redmi Note 12 Pro series launch event in China, the brand also unveiled the vanilla Redmi Note 12. The announcement of this device came as a surprise as there were no teasers or leaks regarding it.

The base model looks identical to the Pro handsets. However, it comes with watered-down specs. Let’s take a detailed look at it along with pricing and availability.

The Redmi Note 12 is built around a 6.67-inch centered punch-hole Samsung AMOLED display with a resolution of 2400 x 1080 pixels (FHD+), a 120Hz refresh rate, and a 240Hz touch sampling rate. The panel supports a 4500000:1 contrast ratio, 1200 nits peak brightness level, 4096-level dimming, and DCI-P3 color gamut.

The phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset paired with LPDDR4x RAM and UFS 2.2 storage. It boots MIUI 13 based on Android 12.

It houses a dual camera system on the rear comprising a 48MP primary snapper and a 2MP depth sensor. On the front, it has an 8MP shooter for selfies and video calls.

The IP53-rated smartphone arrives with a side-mounted fingerprint sensor, an IR blaster, and a 3.5mm headphone jack. It offers connectivity options, like dual SIM, 5G, dual-band WiFi, Bluetooth 5.1, GNSS, and USB Type-C.

Last but not least, the device is backed by a 5,000mAh battery with support for 33W fast charging.

The Redmi Note 12 will retail at the following price tags in China.

  • 4GB + 128GB – ¥1,199 ($166)
  • 6GB + 128GB – ¥1,299 ($179)
  • 8GB + 128GB – ¥1,499 ($207)
  • 8GB + 256GB – ¥1,699 ($235)

It will be available in black, white, and blue color options. The handset is already up for pre-order and will go on sale from 8 PM GMT+8 on October 31.
