A lot of positive feedback is coming for the first Redmi tablet. The Redmi Pad has very convincing specifications, as well as a very good quality price ratio, which is why the first impressions are positive. But this year, several tablets made their debut in the same price range. Currently, one of the best and most prolific tablet manufacturers is definitely Lenovo. For those who do not know, Lenovo owns the Motorola brand and this year came up with the first Motorola tablet: the Moto Tab G62. It comes with similar specifications to the first tablet from Xiaomi’s sub-brand and several people probably do not know which one to go for. Here is a comparison between the specifications of the Redmi Pad and the Motorola Moto Tab G62 that will hopefully give you an answer.

Design

My favorite design and probably your favorite too belongs to the Motorola Moto Tab G62. It is a tablet with a full aluminum unibody design including an aluminum frame and an aluminum back. The body is water repellent and the bezels around the display are very narrow. I also like the presence of a rear camera placed directly in the rear cover, without a dedicated camera module. The Redmi Pad is built with a plastic back and an aluminum frame, it comes with narrow bezels around the display just like the Motorola, but it has a big and pretty ugly camera module on the rear side. On the other hand, it is a thinner tablet, even though it packs a bigger battery, and you should appreciate this, given that the dimensions of these devices are more or less the same. Do you prefer having a thinner tablet or a beautiful one?

Display

One of the most important advantages of the Redmi Pad over the other affordable tablets is definitely the display. It is an IPS LCD panel, so you should not expect those vivid colors and those deep blacks you can usually find on OLED panels. But it is still a great display: we are talking about a panel with a 10.61-inch diagonal that is able to show up to one billion colors with a Full HD+ resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels, a 90 Hz refresh rate (allowing for a smoother viewing experience), and a typical brightness of 400 nits. It is one of the best displays in the affordable segment and it is paired with four stereo speakers providing advanced audio quality. the Motorola Moto Tab G62 has an IPS LCD display with a diagonal of 10.6 inches and a Full HD+ resolution of 1200 x 2000 pixels, as well as four stereo speakers.

Specs & Software

The tablet providing the highest performance in this duo is the Redmi Pad. It is the first tablet powered by the MediaTek Helio G99 mobile platform. It is a processor built with a 6 mn production process and sporting an octa-core architecture composed of two Cortex A76 CPUs running at a max frequency of 2.2 GHz, six Cortex A55 CPUs running at 2 GHz, and a Mali G57 MC2 GPU. The Motorola Moto Tab G62 has an octa-core Snapdragon 680 chipset built with a 6 nm production process. Besides having a better chipset, the Redmi Pad provides up to 6 GB of RAM and up to 128 GB of internal storage, while the Moto Tab G62 stops at 4 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage. Both devices run Android 12 out of the box.

Camera

When it comes to the camera departments, it is essentially a draw because these tablets come with the same camera hardware. They sport an 8 MP rear camera and an ultrawide 8 MP front camera with a FOV of 105 degrees. The front camera is very good for video calls, if we consider that these are just affordable tablets.

Battery

If you choose the Redmi Pad, you can actually achieve a longer battery life because this tablet has a bigger battery, with a capacity of 8000 mAh (instead of just 7700 mAh found on the Motorola Moto Tab G62). On the other hand, the Motorola charges quicker thanks to 20W fast charging.

Price

The starting price of the Redmi Pad roughly translates into €250/$250 for the base configuration with 3 GB of RAM and 64 GB of storage, while you need about €200/$200 to purchase the Motorola Moto Tab G62 in the 4/64 GB memory configuration. The Redmi Pad wins the comparison.
