The second-gen foldable from Honor was presented alongside the Honor 80 series. You can learn about the latter here. Whereas, in this article, let’s take a look at the Honor Magic Vs equipped with a new hinge and upgraded specs.

Honor Magic Vs Specifications

Hinges are an essential part of a foldable device. They can make or break a product. Hence, companies have been improving it since foldables went mainstream.

The newly announced Honor Magic Vs arrives with a light gearless hinge. This hinge is crafted with single-piece casting technology. Therefore, the number of components of supporting structure used in the hinge has reduced from 92 to 4.

Despite the reduction in components, durability and sturdiness are retained. The aerospace-grade materials-touting hinge is rated to withstand over 400,000 folds, which is equivalent to 100 folds per day over 10+ years of use.

The foldable measures around 12.9mm in thickness and weighs about 261g. It comes in glass and vegan leather finishes. The latter is the lighter variant.

Talking about regular specs, the Honor Magic Vs flaunts a 7.9 internal foldable OLED display with a resolution of 2272 x 1984 pixels and 381 PPI. The screen supports up to a 90Hz refresh rate and 800 nits peak brightness.

On the other hand, the external display measures 6.45 inches in size with a 20:9 aspect ratio and a 90% screen-to-body ratio. This  OLED panel has a resolution of 2560 x 1080 pixels and 431 PPI. It supports up to a 120Hz refresh rate and 1200 nits peak brightness.

Both displays carry support for 10-bit color depth and can cover up to 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut. They also have support for up to 1920Hz PWM dimming.

Additionally, the Ultimate variant of the device carries support for stylus input. Just like Galaxy Z Fold 3 and Galaxy Z fold 4, there’s no silo for the stylus. The official stylus accessory is called Magic-Pen

Under the hood, the smartphone houses a Qualcomm Snapdragon Plus Gen 1 Chipset. It comes with a Dual TEE (Trusted Execution Environment) Security System co-developed with Qualcomm for hardware-level security. On the software front, it boots Android 12-based MagicOS 7.0 with features meant to improve productivity.

The device features a triple camera setup on the rear. The setup includes a 54MP Sony IMX800 primary sensor, a 50MP ultra-wide unit with autofocus for macro, and 8MP snapper with a 3x telephoto lens. Further, it has a 16MP shooter on the front (external display) and no front-facing camera for the internal display.
