MediaTek is preparing for the launch of its MediaTek Dimensity 8200 mobile chipset. The chipset will be launched as a successor to the existing MediaTek Dimensity 8100 SoC. It has been tipped earlier that iQOO Neo7 SE will be the first smartphone to debut with the MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chipset. Now, known tipster Digital Chat Station on the Chinese microblogging platform Weibo has leaked the key specifications of the forthcoming chipset.

The tipster said that it will use the same four Cortex-A78 and four Cortex-A55 cores, but in a different arrangement and at faster clock rates. The Cortex-A78 will be split into two clusters: one running at 3.1 GHz and three at 3.0 GHz. The four Cortex-A55 efficiency cores continue to run at 2.0 GHz.

To put things in perspective, the Cortex-A78 in the Dimensity 8100 operates at 2.85 GHz, meaning MediaTek significantly increased the clock speeds. But the Mali-G610 MC6 GPU is unchanged. The tipster concludes by stating that the SoC’s AnTuTu performance probably exceeds the 900,000-point threshold. The tipster also mentions that future Redmi and iQOO smartphones which will be powered by the same chipset will be priced below CNY 2,000 or USD 180.

So that’s all we have to say at this time about the new MediaTek Dimensity 8200 chipset. According to the leaked specifications, only a few minor adjustments have been made here and there. Let’s wait a few more days before evaluating the chipset’s performance in actual use. When compared to its predecessor, we anticipate it will perform similarly. Anyway, all these stand out to be a part of unofficial information so you can take it with a pinch of salt.
