Last week, Philips launched the Evnia 34-inch curved gaming monitor with a 165Hz refresh rate and a WQHD resolution. Now, the company has launched a new high-end professional monitor called the Philips 27B1U7903.
The Philips 27B1U7903 monitor is a 27-inch 4K panel with Mini LED backlights and Thunderbolt 4 connectivity. The Philips 27B1U7903 includes 2,304 dimming zones, which the manufacturer claims to be “the most local dimming zones in a 27-inch monitor.” The majority of IPS monitors have 576 zones.
When viewing HDR material, the Philips 27B1U7903 reaches a maximum brightness of 1,400 cd/m2 and a typical contrast ratio of 1,300:1. When viewing images, the monitor instead achieves 1,000 cd/m2. Additionally, the Philips 27B1U7903 is DisplayHDR 1400 certified, ensuring that at least 95.6% of the DCI-P3 color gamut is covered. The monitor supposedly exceeds this standard by covering 97.2% of DCI-P3 and should also deliver 99.2% Adobe RGB coverage.
The Philips 27B1U7903 is a professional monitor, hence it does not support high refresh rates or quick response times. Instead, the monitor’s maximum speeds are 60 Hz and 4 ms (GtG). In a similar vein, Philips has only offered DisplayPort 1.4 and HDMI 2.0 connectors, and a single Thunderbolt 4 port can supply 90 W of power, along with data, upstream, and video, to a connected device. The display also has Gigabit Ethernet, a 3.5 mm jack, and four USB 3.2 Type-A ports. You can get the Philips 27B1U7903 right now for £1,199, VAT included.
