Huawei was one of the first brands to launch a foldable smartphone in the market. The company has been rumored to be working on a next gen premium Mate X3 foldable phone, and now, its possible launch timeline has been revealed.

The news arrives from tipster Wangzai Knows Everything (Via NotebookCheck) who shared that the information on Weibo (a Chinese microblogging website). The company’s Mate X3 is set to launch soon and will feature a design similar to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 4. This means that the Chinese tech giant’s foldable phone will also have two displays, with one external and the primary display being a large inward folding panel housed on a vertical hinge.

According to the tipster, despite having a same design, the Huawei foldable phone will cost significantly less than its South Korean counterpart. From what we know so far, the Mate X3 is believed to feature a 4G only Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 processor. Although finer details regarding this device is still at large. Based on a previous report, Huawei was expected to launch the Mate X3 sometime in December 2022. However, the latest leak hints at a later launch.

The Mate X2 model was released back in February 2021, so it is clear that a successor is already long due. The latest leak hints at the Mate X3 being announced sometime in the first half of next year. So we can expect it to be launched in early 2023. Depending on its price tag, it might a great contender in the Chinese foldable smartphone market.
