Xiaomi introduced MIUI 14 earlier this month and recently started seeding the development version of the software to Mi 11 and Redmi Note 11T Pro series. Now, just a week after the launch, the brand has begun rolling out a stable MIUI 14 based Android 13 update to the flagship Xiaomi 12S series in China. Here are the details.

As reported by users, Xiaomi has started seeding stable MIUI 14 update to the Xiaomi 12 series, which includes Xiaomi 12S, Xiaomi 12S Pro, and the Xiaomi 12S Ultra. The update brings the new features Google introduced with the Android 13 and some Xiaomi-exclusive goodies. The software is rolling out with firmware version 14.0.2.0.TLACNXM and has a size of 5.7GB.

As usual, the update is likely being released in a phased manner and it should reach every unit in some time. It goes without saying that the software is only rolling out in China as the Xiaomi 12S series isn’t available overseas.

Xiaomi is yet to announce the MIUI 14 in the global market. We expect the software to arrive on the international market in early 2023 with some additional features and omissions.

To recall, the MIUI 14 comes with a streamlined design and is touted to be the lightest version of the MIUI to date. It brings an improved system architecture and photon engine, which is claimed to improve the loading time of third-party apps.

The firmware introduces several visual changes as well. For instance, there are new customizable folders with large icons and new widget options with various shapes and sizes. Xiaomi has also added new features like automatic compression for less-used apps, a toggle to turn off permanent notifications, and homescreen pets.
