Experts say that Tesla may collaborate with OpenAI in the future to integrate ChatGPT into its EV fleet. Tesla founder and CEO, Elon Musk is also the founder and backer of the American AI startup OpenAI which created the bot ChatGPT.

In 2015 Elon Musk along with other famous entrepreneurs and investors like Sam Altman, Redi Hoffman, and Peter Thiel founded the startup OpenAI in San Francisco. The founders collectively pledged $1 billion to OpenAI with the intention of creating and developing advanced Artificial Intelligence that would be useful to mankind.

In 2018, Musk resigned from the board of OpenAI due to disagreements between the founders over the development of the company. However, Musk still remains a donor and backer of the startup and has strong relations and influence within the company.

Tech analysts are predicting a very strong chance of Tesla including ChatGPT in its system of EVs.  Edward Sanchez, senior automotive analyst at TechInsights said that it is not inconceivable that Tesla and OpenAI would have some form of collaboration at some point in the foreseeable future as Musk has close ties with OpenAI’s executive team, which will make it easier to strike a potential deal.

He further added that Tesla is way ahead of the industry in over-the-air updates so if they feel there is enough consumer demand for a ChatGPT service in its cars, similar to Apple’s Siri, it may want to push the service in its next update.

How will Tesla integrate ChatGPT in its EVs?

ChatGPT (Chat Generative Pre-trained Transformer) is the most famous and fastest-growing app in human history. It is an advanced Chatbot developed by the American AI company OpenAI. It is designed to mimic a human speaker and is currently using both supervised and reinforcement learning techniques. Since its launch in November 2022, the application has been a game changer for the AI and technology industries.

Chat GPT uses a particular technique called Reinforcement Learning from Human Feedback (RLHF), which uses human feedback in the training loop to minimize harmful, untruthful, and biased outputs. To successfully carry out human-level conversations and tasks, the app needs to process high volumes of data in seconds. This means it needs a very powerful computer that can process tons of data in seconds. If Tesla wants to integrate ChatGPT in an EV, then it will need a supercomputer that can process, analyze and compute millions of data and provide accurate feedback in seconds to the driver.

For any other automotive company, ChatGPT integration may be difficult unless they can find a supercomputer or alternative solutions for data processing. But Tesla already has the resources and technical know-how to successfully integrate ChatGPT into its EVs.

In 2021, Tesla unveiled its custom-made supercomputer Dojo. Dojo is an AI neural network training supercomputer, specially designed for AI machine learning and video training using the Tesla EV data. The ultimate goal for Dojo is to reach fully autonomous driving capabilities. With the Dojo supercomputer, it is possible that Tesla may collaborate with OpenAI and integrate ChatGPT-related services into its future EVs.
