Xiaomi continues to expand its product line. The Chinese tech giant, which is most well-known for its smartphones, produces many different products ranging from toothbrushes to smart home devices. The company’s latest venture is to enter the electric vehicle market. Xiaomi has been collaborating with various manufacturers to produce its own vehicle for some time now, and its upcoming sedan was recently captured by a spy camera. Here are the details…

Upcoming Xiaomi Sedan to Feature Pure Electric or Plug-in Hybrid Power

Chinese tech giant Xiaomi is making headlines once again, this time with the recent exposure of spy photos of what appears to be their upcoming positioning sedan. The photos, which were leaked by well known car blogger. Images show us a heavily camouflaged engineering test vehicle that is equipped with a laser radar and has a sedan shape. The vehicle’s layout is similar to that of the Ideal L9, which belongs to the watchtower mode.

One of the most notable features of the vehicle is its extremely long front, which is longer than that of most ordinary pure electric vehicles. Bloggers speculate that Xiaomi may opt for a pure electric power and “plug-in hybrid (including extended range)” power version. However, this has not been confirmed yet. The interior of the vehicle has also been exposed, but since it is an engineering sample, it is of little reference value. However, it can be speculated that the vehicle will be equipped with a large-size screen to create a technological atmosphere.

Last month, the design renderings of Xiaomi MS11 were leaked on the internet. From the renderings, it can be seen that the Xiaomi sedan is a coupe with a closed front face, a lidar on the roof, and headlights with brake vents below, indicating that the vehicle’s sporty performance may not be weak. The vehicle uses hidden door handles, does not use the latest electronic rearview mirror, and the roof is integrated with a canopy, which may be equipped with frameless doors.

The wheels are petal-shaped, and the middle of the wheels is clearly displayed. Xiaomi vehicle’s will use the updated “MI” logo, which was introduced in March 2021. However, Wang Hua, the general manager of the public relations department of Xiaomi Group, responded to the leak of the design renderings by stating that the confidential design documents of the second-tier supplier were leaked. The supplier was only a supplier for mold proofing, and the leaked documents were very early in the bidding process. The design draft is not the final stage, and the supplier who caused the leak was fined 1 million yuan.

It remains to be seen what features Xiaomi‘s upcoming positioning sedan will ultimately have, as the vehicle is still in its early testing phase. However, based on the spy photos that have been leaked, it seems that the car will have some exciting features that will set it apart from other sedans on the market. Xiaomi has been making big moves in recent years, expanding its offerings to include everything from smartphones and laptops to smart home products and wearables. The addition of a positioning sedan to its lineup could be the next big step for the company as it continues to grow and expand its reach.
