Apple launched the iPhone 14 Pro last year. It arrived with significant upgrades compared to its predecessor packed with new features like Dynamic Island, Satellite Emergency SOS, and Crash Detection. The smartphone has won two Global Mobile Awards (GLOMO) announced by GSMA at the MWC 2023. 

The iPhone 14 Pro bagged the award for the ‘Best Smartphone’ beating the Google Pixel 7 Pro, Nothing Phone (1), Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 4 and Fold 4 which were also considered for the award. The Cupertino-based tech giant won another award for ‘Disruptive Device Innovation’ for its ground-breaking Emergerncy SOS via Satellite feature on the iPhone 14 Pro models. It allows users of the device to send emergency message alerts in remote places where there is no cellular coverage without any special hardware. In the disruptive device innovation category, Google’s Tensor 2 chip, Qualcomm Snapdragon, and Sony’s IMX989 camera sensor were also considered for the award. 

GSMA says that “The Best Smartphone award combines outstanding performance, innovation and leadership as determined through assessment of smartphones on the market during the period January 2022 to December 2022, by world leading independent analysts, journalists, and influencers.”

As for the core specifications, the iPhone 14 Pro sports a Super Retina XDR LTPO OLED display with ProMotion support, AOD, and up to 2,000 nits brightness. The Pro models have a pill-shaped cutout called Dynamic Island loaded with software optimisation. The iPhone 14 Pro variants feature a 48MP main sensor with sensor-shift stabilisation, 12MP ultra-wide-angle lens, 12MP telephoto unit, and a LiDAR sensor. The smartphone is powered by A16 Bionic processor and supports 15W magsafe wireless charging.
