Qualcomm is said to be developing a new mobile processor. The new SM7475 CPU is expected to have a tri-cluster design with one prime, three gold, and four silver cores. Lu Weibing, Xiaomi Group Vice President and General Manager of the Redmi brand, recently teased the next Qualcomm SM7475 processor. The chipset is expected to be a high-end processor that would power the forthcoming Redmi handsets.

Lu Weibing’s Weibo teaser post didn’t reveal much about the SM7475 chipset, but it did hint that Redmi is working on a smartphone that will use this chipset. This chipset could land in the market as “Qualcomm Snapdragon 7+ Gen 1 or Snapdragon 7 Gen 2”. However, there is no official confirmation on the marketing name of the SoC yet.

WHYLAB, on the other hand, also posted from his Weibo account regarding the new SoC. He stated that the chipset could very well power up the upcoming Redmi Note 12 Turbo smartphone. The same device will launch in the Global markets as POCO F5. Digital Chat Station also claimed via his Weibo account that the chipset will be based on TSMC’s 4nm fabrication node. It would feature the flagship-level Adreno 730 GPU.

Digital Chat Station also mentioned that there are multiple brands lined up in the queue for launching their smartphone with the following chipset. We could also witness the launch of the first smartphone powered by the “SM7475” chipset as early as the end of this month.

It is unclear when Qualcomm will officially unveil the SM7475 CPU or when Redmi will release its new smartphone equipped with this processor. Qualcomm and Xiaomi are both well-known in the smartphone business for their innovation and partnership. Both firms’ next products are expected to provide higher performance, efficiency, and connectivity for users looking for high-end gadgets at low rates.
