Kia’s forthcoming EV9 SUV is causing quite a stir ahead of its official debut next month. The automaker has released images of the interior and exterior, giving us a glimpse of what consumers can expect. However, Kia is keeping some key details under wraps until the unveiling.

The EV9 is a mid-size SUV with three rows of seats, making it one of the first EVs in its category to do so. The exterior design language is characterized by highly pronounced geometric wheel arches and triangular fender structures, resulting in a boxy yet aerodynamic profile. The rear quarter panel windows are reminiscent of the EV6, but the overall design draws inspiration from older Range Rovers.

The interior of the EV9 is a departure from the concept, with Kia opting for two 12.3-inch screens for the gauge cluster and infotainment system. The reduction in physical buttons is a welcome change, with touch-sensitive dash controls added instead. The interior materials, including mesh, contribute to the spaciousness of the cabin. One unique feature of the EV9 is the swivelling captain’s chairs in the middle row, allowing passengers to face the rear seats. The EV9 will be available in 6- and 7-passenger configurations.

Despite the lack of information about the powertrain and battery size, the EV9 is expected to be a strong competitor in the mid-size SUV category. Kia’s use of the EV6’s E-GMP platform suggests that the EV9 will have impressive performance and range.

Although Kia has not disclosed the price, it is expected to be more expensive than the EV6, which starts at around $45,000. However, Kia has a reputation for producing affordable vehicles in their respective categories, so it’s likely that the EV9 will be competitively priced. Overall, the EV9 is an exciting addition to the EV market, and Kia’s decision to release images of the interior and exterior ahead of the official debut has generated a lot of buzz.
