Apple’s iOS updates are always something to look forward to, similar to Google Pixel‘s feature drops that arrive with a plethora of fun changes, (sometimes) visual overhauls and security patches. Apple announced the iOS 16.4 last month, and as of today, the company is rolling out its latest update to iPhones and iPads. Additionally, updates for the Mac, with MacOS 13.3 and WatchOS 9.4 for the Apple Watch are also live. 21 new emojis are bundled with the new update that includes five new animals, two hand gestures, three colored hearts, and a few household objects like a folding fan, a flute, and maracas.

But that’s not all. The updates also come with some nifty features, such as Voice Isolation for cellular calls that blocks out ambient noise, making calls clearer and crisper. The Duplicates album in Photos has also been revamped, and it now cross-checks images stored in the iCloud Shared Photo Library, keeping albums clean and organized. Additionally, a new accessibility feature has been added that dims the screen when it detects flashing lights or strobe effects in video content, making it easier on the eyes.

There are also some bug fixes that come bundled with the update, addressing issues with content management for parents, accidental alarm muting, and other minor glitches. Apple is also reintroducing the new HomeKit architecture that was pulled from iOS 16.2 and MacOS Ventura 13.1 in 2022. Users reported certain Siri commands not working correctly, and smart home devices not showing up in the Home App. These issues have been resolved, and Apple has also fixed the pairing issue with Matter-compatible devices. Users should keep an eye on their notifications and update their Apple devices to enjoy these new features!
