Redmi unveiled the Redmi Note 12 5G along with the Redmi Note 12 Pro 5G and Redmi Note 12 Pro+ 5G at the beginning of this year in India. Since launch, the Note 12 has been available in 4 GB and 6 GB RAM variants. Starting today, the 8 GB RAM variant of the device will be available for purchase in the country.

On March 30, Redmi announced the Redmi Note 12 (4G) and Redmi 12C in India. At the same time, it also introduced the 8 GB RAM + 256 GB storage version of the Redmi Note 12 5G. The new variant was expected to go on sale on April 6. While the first sales of the Redmi Note 12 (4G) and Redmi 12C were carried out on the said date, the Note 12 5G’ 8GB+256GB wasn’t made available for purchase.

Starting today, the 8GB+256GB of Note 12 5G will be available for purchase for the first time in India. The new variant is priced at Rs 21,999 (~$267). However, after applying an ICICI Bank discount of Rs 1,500 (~$18), it can be bought for Rs 20,499 (~$249). There are some additional benefits available for existing Xiaomi users who are looking to purchase the new variant. It will be available through Amazon India, Mi.com, Mi Store app, and offline stores.

Redmi Note 12 5G

The Redmi Note 12 5G’s 8GB+256GB variant can be bought in shades like Matte Black, Mystique Blue, and Frosted Green. The existing 4GB+128GB and 6GB+128GB variants of the smartphone are currently priced at Rs 17,999 (~$218) and Rs 19,999 (~$243), respectively.

The Note 12 5G offers key specifications, such as a 6.67-inch FHD+ 120Hz AMOLED display, a Snapdragon 4 Gen 1 chipset, LPDDR4x RAM, and UFS 2.2 storage. It runs on the MIUI 13-based Android 12 OS and packs a 5,000mAh battery with 33W charging. It has a 13-megapixel front camera and a 48-megapixel (main) + 8-megapixel (ultra-wide) + 2-megapixel (macro) triple camera unit on the back.
