HMD Global is reportedly working on a rugged smartphone like the Nokia XR20, which was announced in July 2021. According to a report by Winfuture.de, this upcoming phone was previously referred to as the Nokia Sentry 5G and may arrive in the market as a Nokia XR-series phone or with the “Nokia XR30” name. The publication has leaked the press renders and key specifications of the smartphone.

The Nokia Sentry 5G first appeared on a roadmap from HMD Global last year, which was accidentally leaked in a manufacturer’s presentation published on YouTube. The leak revealed only a few details on the specifications of the smartphone.

The leaked renders of the upcoming rugged phone from Nokia show that it is equipped with two camera sensors and a flash on the back, with the letters “XR” visible, replacing the “Zeiss” branding. The change is due to the end of the partnership with the German camera brand.

The phone’s rugged features include a durable housing that makes it resistant to shock and water damage, making it ideal for outdoor activities and those who are always on the go.
