French sporting goods retailer Decathlon has launched its 2023 Rockrider E-ST 100 e-mountain bike in EU countries, including France and Germany. The updated e-bike is designed to offer riders an entry-level electric mountain biking experience at an affordable price point.

The new model packs a 250W motor which delivers 42 Nm of torque, providing a maximum assistance speed of 25 kph (~16 mph). This makes it ideal for riders who want to tackle challenging terrain without exerting too much effort.

Another noteworthy feature of the 2023 Rockrider E-ST 100 is the new control panel. Decathlon has swapped the LCD screen for a more straightforward control panel with Bluetooth connectivity, which allows riders to view journey insights on their phone instead. The control panel also offers three modes to choose from – Eco, Normal, and Boost – and displays the battery level.

In terms of the bike’s components, Decathlon continues to use cheaper parts, presumably to keep the cost of the bike down. The eight-speed Microshift MS25 rear derailleur is accompanied by a Suntour XCT 30 suspension fork and 180mm Tektro TKD68 mechanical disc brakes.

The 2023 Rockrider E-ST 100 also comes with 2.2-in Rockrider All Terrain Light 60 TPI tires, which are an improvement from the 30 TPI variant used in its predecessor. The e-bike is also lighter, with the medium-sized version weighing 21.7 kg (~47.8 lbs), which is slightly less than the 22.3 kg (~49.2 lbs) weight of the previous model. The bike is made with the same 6061 aluminum alloy with hydroformed tubes as the previous model.
