Realme Global Vice President for Business and Corporate Strategy Madhav Sheth is reportedly set to exit the company. He is expected to join HONOR’s India branch to revive the brand in the country. The information comes from IANS citing top sources familiar with the matter. Additionally, the company’s director-level executives across online and offline verticals are also expected to follow Sheth at HONOR India.

HONOR might comeback in Indian market as Madhav Sheth set to join the company

Realme

Earlier in March this year, Sheth was made the Global VP of Realme. This meant that he was no longer the CEO of the company’s India branch. The India business was entrusted to Nisar Naikoo and Dipesh Punamiya, who would manage it independently.

Additionally, before this, there were also rumors that the executive had resigned from his role which were denied. Sheth has been a part of Realme since its inception in 2018 and has played an integral role in establishing the brand’s presence in the Indian as well as European markets by introducing consumer products with innovative technologies. However, the executive has been noticeably absent from Realme’s launches in India including the recent Realme 11 Pro 5G series.

The development at Realme comes at a significant time when the Indian smartphone market is undergoing changes with Apple and Samsung solidifying their positions. Chinese brands are increasingly facing challenges.

Huawei sold off its HONOR smartphone business to China-based Shenzhen Zhixin New Information Technology Co Ltd in 2020. However, the brand still announced that it is committed to the Indian market and offering products beyond smartphones in the laptops and wearables segment.

Both Realme and Huawei are yet to provide an official statement on this development. Madhav Sheth has also not shared any announcement. It will be intresting to see HONOR’s rival in the Indian market under the solid leadership of Sheth.
