Amazon has introduced the Prime Lite membership plan in India, priced at Rs 999 per year, as a more affordable alternative to the regular Prime membership priced at Rs 1499 per year. While the Prime Lite membership offers significant cost savings, there are some differences in the benefits provided.
Prime Lite members enjoy free two-day delivery and standard delivery on their purchases. They also have access to free no-rush shipping to eligible addresses and receive a cashback of Rs 25. Additionally, Morning Delivery is available for eligible addresses at a cost of Rs 175 per item. Notably, there is no minimum order value required for free standard delivery.
Customers with an Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card can avail a 5% cashback on all purchases, except for digital and gift card purchases. Prime Lite members are granted early access to Lightning deals, exclusive Lightning deals, and the Deal of the Day.
Unlimited access to Prime Video streaming service is included in the Prime Lite membership. However, there are limitations such as streaming in High Definition (HD) quality with ads and usage restricted to two devices simultaneously.
When compared to the regular Prime membership, there are a few differences in benefits. Prime Lite does not include features like one-day delivery, scheduled delivery, and same-day delivery. Morning Delivery is exclusive to the regular Prime membership and is available for items priced as low as Rs 50.
Prime Lite members do not have access to Prime Reading and Amazon Music streaming services. Prime Reading provides access to a wide range of eBooks and comics across various genres and languages. Moreover, the regular Prime membership offers Prime Video streaming in up to 4K quality, support for more devices, and an ad-free experience. Additional benefits for Prime members include No Cost EMI, a 6-month free screen replacement by Acko, exclusive gaming offers, and special family offers.
