Apple’s new 15-inch MacBook Air was announced at WWDC 2023. Although the new model has the same features as the 13.3-inch version, it comes with a larger battery due to its size advantage. But is its size its only advantage? Has the larger case led to any improvements in repairability or upgradability? iFixit’s latest video answered all these questions. Here are the details…

iFixit Teardown Reveals What’s Inside Apple’s New 15-Inch MacBook Air

Have you ever wondered what’s inside your phone, computer, or tablet? If so, you’re not alone. Many people are curious about the inner workings of their devices, but don’t have the tools or know-how to open them up and take a look. That’s where iFixit comes in. iFixit is a website and online community that provides repair guides, parts, and tools for a wide range of devices. Most recently, the company published a teardown video for the 15-inch MacBook Air.

According yo the iFixit video, 15-inch MacBook Air has a similar internal design as the 13-inch model, with the only notable difference being two extra speakers. The teardown reveals that the laptop has a single 256GB NAND chip for the base model, which can result in slower SSD read and write speeds compared to 512GB, 1TB, or 2TB models. The RAM and storage are also not user-upgradeable, which is in line with other Apple laptops.

Unfortunately, even though the motherboard of Apple’s computers looks like a work of art when you open them up, there isn’t much to see. The company receives serious criticisms, particularly on the issues of upgradability and repairability, and users have to pay quite high fees when there’s a malfunction. Despite the lack of upgradability, the 15-inch MacBook Air is still a powerful laptop with a great design. Here are the some specs of the 15-inch MacBook Air:
