Over the years, Xiaomi has launched several decent smartwatches in the market, with the Watch S2 being the latest. This wearable, although currently limited to China, features a round dial with a sapphire crystal front and an AMOLED panel. While we eagerly await its global launch, a new Xiaomi Watch S2 Pro has been spotted on the IMEI database. This will apparently not be your regular smartwatch, as it will support the addition of a SIM card. Here’s what we know so far.

Xiaomi Watch S2 Pro to bring cellular connectivity

Xiaomiui has spotted the Xiaomi Watch S2 Pro in the IMEI database with model numbers M2311W1 and M2312W1. The outlet says the new wearable will be unveiled in August alongside the Xiaomi Mix Fold 3, the company’s upcoming book-style foldable. The watch is rumored to support inserting a SIM card, enabling cellular connectivity.

This means that users will be able to make phone calls, send text messages, and do much more from the watch itself without having to connect it to their phones. Most smartwatches currently only support calling through Bluetooth, which requires the watch to be connected to a smartphone first. The Xiaomi Watch S2 Pro, on the other hand, will essentially act like a regular phone with connectivity features. It remains to be seen what other features the Watch S2 Pro will have, but its cellular connectivity could be a major selling point.

As the name suggests, the Watch S2 Pro will be a more premium offering in the Watch S2 series. The current Xiaomi Watch S2 comes in 1.32-inch (42mm) and 1.43-inch (46mm) AMOLED displays. It is equipped with an HRM, SpO2 sensor, stress and sleep tracker, temperature monitor, and offers 100 workout modes. Additionally, it includes built-in GPS for outdoor activities.
