After a nearly two-year wait, the Fairphone 4 5G has made its debut in the US market. This smartphone stands out for its focus on ethics, sustainability, and minimizing environmental impact. One of its notable features is its fully repairable design, with easily accessible parts such as the motherboard, camera assembly, battery, speakers, etc. that can be replaced by the brand or the user by using a simple screwdriver. Catering to privacy-conscious individuals, Fairphone has partnered with Murena, a company specializing in “de-Googling” Android phones, to bring the Fairphone 4 to the US market. Instead of the usual Android OS, the device comes preloaded with Murena’s /e/OS, which emphasizes privacy and excludes Google services. /e/OS is designed to address concerns about data sharing with the search giant, offering a privacy-focused alternative. It features its own app store and Murena Cloud apps for essential functions like email, calendar, and cloud storage.
