Spy Shots of BYD SongL Mass-Production Model Unveiled

New Spy photos of the BYD SongL have been leaked, offering us a more detailed view of the soon to be released electric SUV. As we mentioned above, this vehicle isn’t exactly new for us. BYD initially presented this model as a concept car at the Shanghai Auto Show in 2021, and now it’s anticipated to be available for sale towards the end of this year. It seems like the company will retain the concept car’s overall design, but with some minor changes.

The front end is similar to the Song PLUS DM-i, with a glossy black grille and LED headlights. The side profile is the most attractive part of the vehicle, with a sloping roofline and a muscular rear haunches. The rear end features through-type LED taillights and an electric spoiler. The SongL is built on the e-platform 3.0, which is BYD’s latest electric vehicle platform.

It is expected to be equipped with CTB battery body integration technology, intelligent electric four-wheel drive, and Yunche systems. The BYD SongL is also expected to be priced around 200,000 yuan (US$31,000). The SongL is positioned as a Class B Hunting SUV, and it is expected to compete with cars like the Tesla Model Y and the Volkswagen ID.4. It will be interesting to see how the SongL performs when it goes on sale later this year.
