Recently OnePlus seemingly confirmed that its first-ever foldable phone will be called the OnePlus Open. Earlier this year, the brand confirmed that the device may debut in the third quarter of this year. However, a recent report also revealed that it might be delayed for a ‘good reason’. The OnePlus Open surfaced in leaked renders as well as specifications in June. Now, the same tipster Steve Hemmerstoffer (aka onleaks) who is highly reliable has shared updated renders of the foldable phone.

OnePlus Open appears in updated leaked renders

Onleaks reveals that the updated renders of the OnePlus Open are based on the pre-production unit pictures. Hence, they offer the best and most comprehensive look at the upcoming offering. The updated renders are also different from the previously leaked CAD-based renders.

As per the latest development, the OnePlus Open looks more compact in the new images compared to a taller form factor in the previously leaked render. It now has a wider aspect ratio similar to the OPPO Find N2 or even the Google Pixel Fold. The foldable phone also looks incredibly small, almost the size of a wallet. It has curved edges on all sides.

The circular camera module on the back panel also becomes bigger along with slight changes compared to the early renders. It houses two sensors, a periscope lens, an ‘H’ branding confirming Hasselblad’s presence, and another sensor that could potentially be a Time-of-Flight or LiDAR sensor. The LED flash unit retains its position at the top left corner of the back panel, although its size has increased. The back panel of the foldable phone also has a faux leather texture.

The OnePlus Open has thin bezels on both the interior and exterior displays. The punch-hole cutout is located centrally on the main display whereas it is placed at the top right corner on the interior screen.

Previously leaked render VS Latest render

The most notable difference between the old and new renders of the OnePlus Open is that it sports a boxy form factor. The power and volume rocker buttons are on the right edge with the former likely doubling up as a fingerprint scanner. There is also the brand’s iconic Alert Slider on the left side of the device. The foldable phone will be equipped with quad speakers with two speaker grilles located at the top and bottom. The device also has a USB-C port at the bottom.

Meanwhile, you can check out the previously leaked core specifications of the OnePlus Open here.
