Apple unveiled its latest generation flagship iPhone 15 lineup earlier this week. The Pro and Pro Max variants come with significant upgrades over their predecessors including titanium chassis, a solid state action button, an A17 Pro Bionic processor based on a 3nm process, and more. At the Wonderlust event, Apple also revealed the iPhone 15 Pro’s gaming capabilities. It means that the devices will be able to play top console games natively. Read on to know more about this below.

iPhone 15 Pro models will run AAA gaming titles

Handheld gaming consoles have been gaining traction recently. However, it’s not the same thing with mobile gaming although some actual AAA titles have been releasing versions for smartphones. This is because console and PC games are usually inaccessible on mobile technology.

Apple’s A17 Pro processor that powers the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max is almost on par with handheld gaming consoles like Steam Deck, ROG Ally, etc. The CPU has a six-core structure and a 20 percent faster GPU for an overall improved performance and energy consumption. Apple also introduced hardware-accelerated Ray Tracing on the SoC that is claimed to run any game at a higher frame rate compared to software-based ray tracing. The technology also offers realistic and immersive viewing experiences in games. According to Apple, the A17 Pro offers “next-level mobile gaming with fast, efficient performance and hardware-accelerated ray tracing.”

At the annual fall event, the Cupertino-based tech giant announced that AAA console games will arrive on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max. This is especially a big win for mobile gamers since the smartphones will also support third-party controllers. The iPhone 15 Pro models are set to get Resident Evil Village, Resident Evil 4 Remake, and Death Stranding later this year. Assassins Creed Mirage which will release for PC and Consoles on October 5 will be arriving on smartphones early next year.

It now remains to be seen if people will be ready to play and pay the full price for big titles like these on the iPhone 15 Pro.
