Nissan dropped something big (and fast) at the 2023 Japan Mobility Show—a concept car called the Hyper Force. If you’re wondering why that matters, it’s because this new vehicle seems a lot like a sneak peek at a future GT-R model. While Nissan isn’t saying much, some hints are hard to ignore.

The concept’s design and features are reminiscent of the iconic GT-R

First, let’s talk design. The Hyper Force looks aggressive. It has four round taillights similar to what you’d find on a GT-R. There’s also a large rear wing and special doors that open upwards, kind of like butterfly wings.

Inside, the car feels like a mix between a racing setup and a high-tech office. Forget about the usual round steering wheel; the Hyper Force has one shaped for racing. There are two driving modes: “R” for racing and “GT” for a more relaxed ride. Sound familiar? That’s because GT-Rs also have this feature.

But what makes the Hyper Force special is its electric setup. This concept car comes with a big battery that can deliver an impressive 1,341 horsepower. That’s a lot of power for any car, let alone an electric one. Nissan also mentions an all-wheel-drive system, but they’re keeping other specs under wraps for now.

So, when can we expect this car to hit the roads? Hard to say. The previous GT-R model took six years from concept to market. We’re just hoping it won’t be that long this time. The Hyper Force shows Nissan’s effort to blend their sports car heritage with future tech. Whether this is the next GT-R or not, it’s a big step toward an electric vehicles for the brand.
