Microsoft has partnered with a generative AI startup called Inworld AI to develop new AI tools for Xbox game makers to use for story design and NPCs. This would allow game developers to quickly and easily generate new content for their games, without having to spend as much time on writing and design. This way, missions and characters in games can become much more immersive. Especially in role-playing games, you can have direct conversations with characters and truly immerse yourself in the world you’re a part of.

Microsoft and Inworld AI, are also working on an “AI character runtime engine” that developers can plug into their actual existing games. This engine also would allow players to generate new stories, quests and dialogues as they go, making for a more dynamic and interactive gaming experience. Microsoft says that the new AI tools are still under development, but that they hope to make them available to Xbox game makers soon. The company believes that these tools could revolutionize the way games are made and played.
