Under the hood, the Legion Pro 5 is fueled by the Intel Core i9-14900HX processor, a juggernaut with 24 cores and 32 threads (8 P-Cores and 16 E-Cores). The CPU clocks at speeds of up to 5.8GHz and sports a maximum turbo power design of 157W (55W PL1). Lenovo’s decision to opt for 14th Gen Core CPUs, rather than Intel’s new Meteor Lake GPUs, emphasizes a focus on raw processing power.

For the $1800 variant, users can expect a configuration featuring the Intel Core i9-14900HX processor, 32GB of DDR5-5600 memory, a capacious 1TB SSD storage, and the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 8GB Laptop GPU. Should users require more, the Legion Pro 5 offers an extra Gen4 M.2 SSD slot, while the RAM can be upgraded to an impressive 96GB of DDR5 memory.

The Legion Pro 5 maintains its portability with an 80Wh battery, housed within dimensions of 363 x 260 x 26.75mm and a weight of 2.55kg. Connectivity is robust, with features like 3 x USB 3.1 Gen1 ports, 1 x USB 3.2 Gen1 (always on) port, and 1 x USB-C 3.2 Gen2 supporting data transfer and DisplayPort 1.4. HDMI 2.1 is also on board, capable of handling 4K at 120Hz or 8K at 60Hz, catering to the demands of high-quality gaming displays.

Despite the distinction between the 14th Gen Core “Raptor Lake Refresh” GPUs and the newly unveiled Intel Meteor Lake CPUs, Lenovo’s inclusion of the GeForce RTX 4070 ensures that integrated graphics won’t be a primary concern for gamers. The Legion Pro 5 is poised for a full reveal at CES 2024, promising a thrilling experience for gaming enthusiasts.
