ASUS‘s Republic of Gamers (ROG) has expanded its gaming laptop lineup at CES 2024 with the launch of the 2024 version of Strix Scar 18, Strix Scar 16, Strix G18, and Strix G16 models, each offering cutting-edge features and superior performance.

Asus ROG Strix series

The highlight of this series is the Strix Scar 18, the first 18-inch laptop from ROG, equipped with the innovative mini LED ROG Nebula HDR Display. This display boasts over 2000 discrete dimming zones, 1100 nits of peak brightness, and a 2.5K resolution with a 240Hz refresh rate, ensuring vivid and immersive gaming experiences.

All models in the 2024 Strix family are powered by the latest Intel Core i9 processor 14900HX, a 24-core, 32-thread CPU capable of handling demanding tasks and AAA games.

The Strix Scar 16 and Scar 18 come with up to an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4090 Laptop GPU with a 175 W max TGP, while the Strix G16 and G18 models are equipped with up to the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4080 Laptop GPU. These GPUs deliver incredible rendering performance and support AI tools like DLSS Super Resolution and Frame Generation.

The laptops prioritize efficient cooling with Tri-Fan technology and Conductonaut Extreme liquid metal applied to both the CPU and GPU. This advanced cooling system enables the laptops to maintain peak performance over extended usage periods.

In terms of memory and storage, the Strix family supports up to 64 GB of DDR5 memory and up to 4 TB PCIe Gen4 x4 storage, catering to the needs of gamers and creators who require high-speed multitasking and ample storage space.

The design of the laptops has also been refreshed, featuring bold ROG accents and a cyberpunk aesthetic. They offer various connectivity options, including Thunderbolt 4, USB 3.2 Gen 2 ports, HDMI 2.1, and a 3.5 mm combo audio jack, along with WiFi 6E and Bluetooth v5.3 support. All these laptops are powered by a 90 Wh battery and run on Windows 11 Pro.

Asus ROG Strix series

The ASUS ROG Strix Scar G16 and G18 models, while similar in hardware to the Scar 16 and 18, are distinguished by their weight and screen sizes, with the G18 featuring an 18-inch display and the G16 a 16-inch display.

Both models offer a resolution of 2560×1600, a 240Hz refresh rate, 3ms gray-to-gray response time, and cover 100% of the DCI-P3 color gamut, making them appealing to both gamers and content creators. All six laptops in the lineup come with Dolby Vision and Dolby Atmos support, as well as a backlit chiclet keyboard and per-key RGB lighting with Aura Sync.

Pricing and Availability

The ROG Strix Scar laptops are set to launch later in January, with the Strix Scar starting at $2,899.99 for the 16-inch version and $2,999.99 for the 18-inch model. The pricing of Strix models is yet to be revealed.
