iQOO unveiled the iQOO 12 and 12 Pro smartphones in November in China. Today, the brand took to its Weibo handle to confirm the arrival of a new special edition version of the iQOO 12 in celebration of the upcoming Chinese New Year. Dubbed the “Year of the Dragon” variant, the new special variant of the iQOO 12 comes with 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage.

iQOO 12’s new 12GB+512GB variant launched

Since its launch in China, the iQOO 12 has been available in three variants, such as 12 GB RAM + 256 GB storage, 16 GB RAM + 512 GB storage, and 16 GB RAM + 1 TB storage. These models are priced at 3,999 Yuan (~$563), 4,299 Yuan (~$605), and 4,699 Yuan (~$661). It is available in shades like black, white, and red.

The newly introduced Year of the Dragon variant of the iQOO 12 offers 12 GB of RAM and 512 GB of storage. The device is priced at 3,999 Yuan. The special edition phone is scheduled to go on sale at 10 am (local time) on Jan. 12. At the same time, the company has confirmed that it has slashed the price of the iQOO 12’s 12GB+256GB by 200 Yaun for a limited period. Hence, it is now available for 3,799 Yuan (~$535).

iQOO 12 specifications

The iQOO 12 has a 6.78-inch AMOLED LTPO display that offers 1260 x 2800 pixels resolution and a 144Hz refresh rate. The Snapdragon 8 Gen 3-powered phone has LPDDR5x RAM, UFS 4.0 storage, and a 5000mAh battery with 120W fast charging.

On the back, it has a 50-megapixel main camera with OIS support, a 50-megapixel ultra-wide lens, and a 64-megapixel periscope telephoto camera with 3x optical zoom. For selfies, the device is equipped with a 16-megapixel front camera. It runs on OriginOS 4-based Android 14 and has an in-screen fingerprint scanner.
