Keychron has launched the K3 Max, a low-profile mechanical keyboard with hot-swappable switches. The K3 Max offers a compact 75% layout with 84 keys, making it ideal for portability and saving desk space.

Keychron K3 Max specifications

The K3 Max offers versatile connectivity options, including Bluetooth, a 2.4 GHz wireless dongle for low-latency performance, and a USB-C cable.

It comes with Gateron Red, Blue, or Brown switches, but the hot-swappable version allows you to easily change them to other low-profile switches with different feels and travel distances.

The keyboard features two flip-out legs with rubber feet for stability and three adjustable angles (2.5°, 4.2°, and 6.5°).

It utilizes an ARM Cortex-M4 processor and QMK firmware for customization through VIA software or website, allowing key remapping, macro assignment, and RGB backlight personalization with 18 colors and animation effects. White LED backlights are also available for those who prefer a subtler look.

It also comes with PBT double-shot keycaps, with optional see-through keycaps for illuminated legends. Both Windows and macOS modifier keys are included, and a physical switch lets you switch between layouts without remapping keys.

The aluminum frame makes the K3 Max both sturdy and lightweight. It connects to up to three devices via Bluetooth, allowing easy switching between desktops, laptops, or tablets with a keystroke.

The battery life is impressive, lasting up to 78 hours with backlights off (around three weeks between charges) and 40 hours with them on. You can even switch to the USB connection for uninterrupted use while charging.
