Lei Jun, the CEO and Co-Founder of Xiaomi, has just announced that William Lu is the new General Manager of the company. The founder also revealed that the newly appointed Xiaomi GM will also handle the unveiling of the Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

In a tweet, the CEO of the Chinese tech giant stated that the Xiaomi SU7 is currently undergoing nationwide road tests ahead of its domestic launch. He adds that as he dedicates himself to the EV business, the brand has appointed Willian Lu to assume the role of General Manager of the Xiaomi brand, which will have him take the stage for upcoming smartphone launches. Notably, William’s presence will begin with the flagship Xiaomi 14 Ultra.

William confirmed his role in another tweet and expressed his excitement regarding the Xiaomi 14 Ultra launch. In other words, the next gen flagship’s release is right around the corner. Just last week, the premium grade handset got certified on major platforms like TUV Rheinland and IMDA. Meanwhile, a GeekBench sighting revealed its synthetic benchmark scores as well as some key specs. It is expected to be equipped with the Qualcomm Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 SoC that is paired with up to 16GB of RAM.

The Xiaomi 14 Ultra will also run on the Android 14 OS out of the box. According to known tipster Digital Chat Station, the device would offer an impressive 80W wireless fast charging as well. Another notable feature that is rumored to arrive with the 14 Ultra is satellite connectivity. A 3C certification confirms that a wireless Camera Kit is also in the works.
