The OnePlus Nord CE 2, which launched back in February 2022 has recently received a new update called the OxygenOS 13 F.53. The device launched with Android 11 onboard and has already been updated to Android 13, which is its last promised major Android update.
That being said, the brand is still seeding out security patches for the device, and this update is exactly that. It comes with the March 2024 security patch which has fixed two critical flaws residing in the System component. These could potentially allow remote code execution, giving attackers unauthorized control of your device. The update also patched vulnerabilities in various components that could have allowed privilege escalation or information disclosure.
Apart from that, the update removes the Background streaming feature in the Smart Sidebar. This was one of the popular OxygenOS features, which allowed for videos to continue playing even if they were minimized or if the screen was turned off. This feature was reportedly violating YouTube’s terms of service for background video playback, so OnePlus has removed it in compliance with Google.
