Nothing‘s sub-brand, CMF, has made a name for itself in the market with its affordable accessories like neckbands, earbuds, and chargers. However, a recent leak suggests CMF might be taking a step further by entering the smartphone space.

A device with the model number “A015” surfaced on India’s BIS certification database. While this model number was initially linked to the upcoming Nothing Phone (3), the BIS specifically mentions it as a CMF product.

This clears up any confusion about it being Phone (3) and sparks speculation about CMF’s first smartphone.

The model number “A015” also deviates from Nothing’s typical naming scheme (A063 for Phone (1) and A065 for Phone (2)). It further adds weight to the idea of a CMF-branded phone.

Considering CMF’s focus on affordability as a budget-friendly alternative to Nothing, launching a smartphone wouldn’t be a huge surprise. While CMF products share design elements with their parent brand, they’re typically simpler and affordable.

CMF Phone Certification

Given its CMF branding, it’s likely this could be a budget phone. However, beyond the model number, details about specs and pricing are scarce. So it’s best to approach this news with caution.

It’ll be interesting to see how CMF sets itself apart in the fiercely competitive budget smartphone market. Plus, it’s uncertain if CMF devices will get the same level of treatment as their Nothing counterparts.

For now, the true nature of the A015 device remains a mystery. Whether it’s a smartphone or something else entirely, we’ll have to wait and see.
