Minisforum has unveiled its latest compact workstation PC, the UM790 XTX. The new Minisforum mini PC comes with some outstanding features including its overclocked AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS CPU. It also supports USB4 and OCuLink to plug in a Pro GPU card.

The Minisforum UM790 XTX comes with a display stand that allows the mini PC to stand securely when in use. The UM790 XTX is a more powerful model than its predecessor, the UM780 XTX. To put this in perspective, the Minisforum UM780 XTX is currently referred to as The King of the Mini PC. The new model was originally announced in 2023 but is just beginning to sell in China.

The AMD Ryzen 9 7940HS processor can clock up to 70W TDP which is about 25W higher than the AMD default of 45W. The UM790 XTX comes with two USB4 (Alt PD) ports, four USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-A ports, HDMI, DisplayPort, and an audio jack. It also features two Rj45 2.5G network ports and an OCuLink plug for connecting Pro GPU cards to the mini PC. The product features an upgraded active cooling system that sustains optimal operating temperatures even under heavy loads. The device has a magnetic top cover with backlight and RGB lighting.

The memory and storage configurations of the Minisforum UM790 XTX are 16/ 32/ 64GB RAM and 512GB/ 1TB/ 2TB SSD respectively. The barebones version of the mini PC is priced at 3,299 yuan ($455) while the model with storage has a starting price of 3,999 yuan ($552). There are no global availability details yet for the Minisforum UM790 XTX but this should be available shortly.
