Photography enthusiasts looking for a premium compact camera can set their sights on the new Leica D-Lux 8. Announced today by Leica Camera AG, the D-Lux 8 arrives 21 years after the first iteration and is set for a July 2nd release at Leica stores and authorized retailers worldwide. The price tag is US$1,595 (approximately 11,564 yuan).

The D-Lux 8 also has a new internal system and new controls.

While the D-Lux 8 retains the familiar design and basic specs of its predecessor, the D-Lux 7, it boasts a new internal system and revamped controls for a more intuitive user experience. This includes a new button layout and a simplified interface inspired by the Leica Q system.

At its core, the D-Lux 8 features a 4/3-inch 21-megapixel CMOS sensor (with 17 million effective pixels) and a versatile Leica DC Vario-Summilux 10.9-34 f/1.7-2.8 ASPH lens (equivalent to a 24-75mm focal length on a 35mm camera). The camera also offers DNG format shooting for photographers who prefer more control over their raw images.

For seamless connectivity, the D-Lux 8 integrates with the Leica FOTOS app, allowing for easy image transfer and remote control. The camera also comes equipped with a flash unit, expanding creative lighting possibilities. Leica is offering a range of colorful accessories to personalize the D-Lux 8, catering to photographers who love a touch of individual style.
