Young minds in China are in for a treat! On June 1st, the Anhui Provincial Committee of Children and Children and the Anhui Provincial Quantum Computing Engineering Research Center are hosting a unique event: the first “China’s Independent Quantum Computer Cluster Open Teaching Activity.”

The supercomputer was launched in January earlier this year

This exciting program takes place at the heart of Benyuan Quantum, China’s pioneering quantum computing company. Here, children will have the chance to learn about and interact with five independent superconducting quantum computer clusters, including the renowned “Benyuan Wukong.”

Benyuan Wukong, China’s third-generation autonomous superconducting quantum computer, is a technological marvel. Launched in January 2024, it holds the title of the most advanced programmable and deliverable superconducting quantum computer globally. Its name pays homage to the legendary Sun Wukong, known for his ability to transform into 72 forms, reflecting the computer’s 72-bit autonomous superconducting quantum chip, the “Wukong Core.”

But what truly sets Benyuan Wukong apart is its impressive level of independent Chinese technology. It boasts:

  • Homegrown quantum chips, developed entirely within China.
  • Independent quantum computing measurement and control systems.
  • An independent quantum computer operating system.
  • Independent quantum computer application software.

This signifies a remarkable 80% localization rate, with the remaining components under self-development.

The impact of Benyuan Wukong is undeniable. As of May 27th, it has completed a staggering 225,000 computing tasks for users in 124 countries and regions, attracting over 9.38 million remote access attempts worldwide, with American users leading the charge.
