British company Tranquil IT is preparing to launch a new line of rugged mini-PCs that are suitable for outdoor activities. The Tranquil IT All Terrain mini PCs will be fanless and powered by the Intel Alder Lake-U CPUs. The CPU options include the i3-1210U, i5-1235U, and i7-1255U, delivering up to 64GB of RAM and up to 8TB of SATA SSD storage.

The rise of fanless mini PCs has been fueled by the integration of ultra-low voltage efficient processors being developed. This has provided manufacturers with the opportunity to ramp up performance while reducing the consumed power. Tranquil IT has carved a niche for itself as a brand known for silent builds in its mini PC lineup. It is now expanding its production strategy to include more powerful and rugged offerings that can withstand harsh conditions outdoors. The aluminum chassis of the mini PC is waterproof and dustproof. It can also withstand temperatures between -10℃ and 60℃.

The chassis and design of the new Tranquil IT mini PCs omit any active ventilation and come with IP66 waterproof certification. They can operate in dust, water, and extreme cold/ hot conditions. The models are targeted at industrial applications and customers who require more freedom in using their mini PCs in harsh conditions. The chassis has dimensions of 60 x 208 x 263 mm and weighs 3.4kg. Although it is above the average size and weight of fanless models, the new mini PCs are equipped with more powerful CPUs as highlighted earlier.
