Philips Projection has unveiled an Indiegogo crowdfunding campaign for the Screeneo UL5 Smart projector. The Screeneo UL5 Smart is a smart ultra-short throw projector with an affordable and discounted price tag on Indiegogo, with more than $900,000 already pledged. The Indiegogo campaign for the Screeneo UL5 Smart will end within a week and the discounted offer price is $789.

The Philips Screeneo UL5 Smart is the successor to the Philips Screeneo U5 smart projector released in 2022. The new model is a smart RGB laser projector with state-of-the-art triple RGB and can achieve 100-inch projection from just 20 inches away. The Screeneo UL5 Smart is the brand’s smallest, most advanced ultra-short throw (UST) projector yet. It comes with improvements over Philips’s impressive lineup of successful projectors. It is being offered as a budget-friendly gadget that delivers a more immersive experience than traditional TVs.
The Screeneo UL5 Smart is as compact as one can expect. It measures about 8 x 3.7 x 3.4 inches and outputs an impressive screen size at a short distance from a wall. This allows the projector to be well-suited for small spaces like living rooms. The display has a maximum brightness of 550 ANSI lumens and a full HD resolution. Although the Screeneo UL5 Smart does not deliver 4K output, its price (under $1,000) places it high on the affordability spectrum while retaining great characteristics. It is unarguably among the leading UST projectors that are currently in the market.
The Philips Screeneo UL5 Smart runs on the Philips LuminOS and popular streaming services can be utilized to enhance the options available to the user. It is ideal for enjoying movies, shows, and games. The projector is equipped with a DLP chip, which combines with the triple-laser light source to separate red, blue, and green colors for a vibrant visual output. It has a throw ratio of 0.23:1.
You can adjust the distance of the projector from the projection surface to adjust the size of the projection. Such adjustments do not result in any discernible drop in brightness or clarity of the output. The projector also automatically keystones and focuses itself when adjusted.

There is a decent collection of ports on the Screeneo UL5 that allows the user to project from different input sources including laptops, desktops, tablets, or even a gaming console. The projector can be placed on its back or flipped to stand vertically, thereby projecting on the floor or a table. The Philips Screeneo UL5 Smart projector comes with a two-year warranty and shipping starts in September 2024. It is currently being offered at $789 but the original price of the model is $1,406.
