The OPPO K-series, popular in the brand’s home region, hit the Android market this year with two new smartphones. The OPPO K12 series brings the K12 and the K12x smartphone entries, both of which are impressive devices. Like you might already expect, these devices share some similarities with each other, but the K12x is the less feature-packed entry. Oppo K12 vs Oppo K12x: Design and colours
Oppo K12:
The OPPO K12 is an impressive looking device that packs all the design elements you’ll need in a smartphone. From the first glance at this device, it’ll be clear to you that the design team at OPPO took their time with this device. It comes with a clean finish on its rear panel, with vertically stacked rear cameras and a ring-shaped flash. The island of the rear cameras is elevated above the device’s rear panel, while leaving each camera cutout to stand individually. On the right side of its flat frame are the power button and volume rocker keys, on the base sits the USB-C port, speakers, a microphone, and the SIM tray. At the top of the device sits the upwards firing speaker, this leaves the left side of the frame bare. Available colours on this device are Celadon Marble, Dark Chrome.
Oppo K12x:
The only differences in the design of the OPPO K12x is the ring-shaped flash is dropped for two individual flashes. Also on the left side of the device’s frame sits the SIM tray, it also has a 3.5mm headphone jack that sits next to the USB-C port, the microphone, and speaker. Available colours on this device are Gray, Light Green.

Oppo K12 and Oppo K12x:
Both devices come with different screen panels, the K12 has an AMOLED panel and the K12x has an OLED panel. The screen size on the K12 is also slightly larger than that on the K12x. Both devices offer users up to 120Hz refresh rate, making them great for gaming or power usage. Both screens are flat screens, so if you’re looking to purchase any of these devices, then you should know that you won’t be getting it with a curved screen.

The OPPO K12 and K12x both come with a dual rear camera setup with 50MP main sensors. Up front, both devices also feature a 16MP selfie camera shooter. The major difference in the rear camera setup of these devices is the secondary, as the K12 comes with a 8MP ultrawide sensor and the K12x comes with a 2MP depth sensor. Additionally, the Oppo K12 supports 4K video recording on the rear cameras.

Despite both devices coming with the same, 5500mAh battery capacity, the K12 features a faster 100W charging ability. As for the K12x, it features an 80W fast charging ability, which is very okay but slower than what is available on the K12.

For most buyers, if you don’t want to spend much, it’s ideal to go for the Oppo K12x. However, if money isn’t a determining factor for your purchase, then it’s better to purchase the Oppo K12. The K12 gives you a better screen, better cameras, improved performance, and faster charging. While the K12x is a great device, it doesn’t match up with the Oppo K12 in a lot of areas, making the latter, the better purchase overall.
