The upcoming Xiaomi Mix Flip, set to launch tomorrow, is one of the first clamshell foldable to be powered by the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor. Naturally, there’s a lot of curiosity about how well it will be able to handle demanding tasks like gaming, especially considering its compact size.

While we typically have to wait for reviews for this kind of information, we’re in luck this time. The well-known tipster, Digital Chat Station, has already shared benchmark and gaming performance figures for the upcoming foldable phone.

The phone, equipped with a Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 chipset, 16GB LPDDR5X RAM, and 512GB UFS 4.0 storage, achieved an impressive AnTuTu score of 1.91 million. On Geekbench 6, the Mix Flip scored 2123 points in single-core and 6512 in multi-core tests, placing it on par with flagship smartphones in the traditional bar form factor.

Gaming performance is promising as well. The Flip managed to deliver an average frame rate of 119.8fps in Honor of Kings at high settings while consuming 2.9W of power. In PUBG Mobile, the device maintained a steady 60fps at smooth settings with a power draw of 2.3W.

However, for demanding titles like Genshin Impact, even with frame rate increase tech-enabled, the Mix Flip averaged 59.5fps at 720p resolution while drawing 4.8W. The tipster suggests using a “heat dissipation back clip”, likely referring to a cooling fan, if users want to play the game in high-end settings.

Now looking at what has been revealed officially so far, the Mix Flip features a 4.01-inch external display with 1.5K resolution and 1600 nits brightness. The cover display has equal bezels and a curved-edge design on all four sides. It is shielded by a layer of Xiaomi’s Dragon Crystal Glass.

Xiaomi has also been thoughtful enough to include a dedicated earpiece and microphone above the top bezel of the cover screen, allowing Mix Flip users to make calls without opening the device. The external screen also supports a full-size keyboard for convenient typing.

Furthermore, the device will feature a dual-camera setup with Leica Summilux lenses and will be powered by a 4780mAh battery.
