Pico, a subsidiary of ByteDance, is preparing to launch its next-generation mixed reality headset, the Pico 4S. Info about this headset was previously leaked back in July 2024. Building upon the success of its predecessor, the Pico 4, the 4S model has a fair number of upgrades.

The Pico 4S has an upgraded strap design with detachable wrist straps for controllers

A key upgrade is the integration of the Snapdragon XR2 Gen 2 chipset, previously seen in the Meta Quest 3. This powerful processor, featuring two 2.05GHz cores and four 2.36GHz cores, combined with 12GB of RAM, is expected to deliver superior performance compared to its competitors.

The Pico 4S is designed to offer a seamless blend of virtual and real worlds. While the front panel may resemble a display, it primarily houses cameras essential for mixed reality experiences. These cameras enable users to interact with both virtual and physical environments simultaneously.

Comfort and user experience remain a priority for Pico. The Pico 4S features an improved head strap design, building upon the comfort offered by its predecessor. Additionally, the headset includes detachable wrist straps for its controllers, enhancing user safety and preventing accidental loss.

The headset is expected to launch in the near future, likely coinciding with the upcoming holiday season.
