Xiaomi is reportedly testing a phone with the Dimensity 9400 flagship chip. It’s important to note that Xiaomi usually uses Snapdragon flagships to power its flagship devices.

MediaTek Dimensity 9400 IPC Performance Leak

The news comes from Weibo tipster 智慧皮卡丘, who also claimed that the Dimensity 9400 chipset performed well in Xiaomi’s tests and that the phone could launch earlier than its expected launch time.

According to rumors, the MediaTek Dimensity 9400 chip will be equipped with the more advanced TSMC 3nm process. The single-core performance is about 30% higher than the previous Dimensity 9300 chip. It suggests that the Dimensity 9400 will perform similarly to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 chip. It is also reported that the Dimensity 9400 should be able to outperform the Apple A17 Pro chip in terms of multi-core performance.

The tipster also hinted that the flagship Xiaomi 15 series will come with an ultrasonic fingerprint scanner, which will be an upgrade from the optical ones Xiaomi has been using for quite a while.

When it comes to the Dimensity 9400-powered phone, it can be the Redmi K80 Ultra or a Xiaomi Civi series device. However, regarding the ahead-of-schedule launch he talked about, it doesn’t seem to be the next K series device. Therefore it is expected to be a Civi series model. Nonetheless, he didn’t reveal anything about the device himself.

The Dimensity 9400 chip will still come with a fully large core design and will boast the Cortex-X925 CPU core developed in cooperation with Arm. This is expected to be the key to the chipset’s 30% improvement in single-core performance. The chipset is also expected to offer an overall improved power efficiency and adopt a faster 10.7 Gbps LPDDR5x memory module.
