Tecno has unveiled the Phantom V Flip2, a clamshell foldable smartphone that aims to compete with the likes of the Motorola Razr 50 and offer a more affordable alternative to the Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 6. This new device offers several improvements over its predecessor, including a larger cover display, enhanced cameras, and a more powerful battery.

The Phantom V Flip2 boasts a customizable 3.64-inch cover screen that supports over 2,000 apps, allowing for quick access to essential functions without needing to unfold the phone. Inside, a 6.9-inch LTPO AMOLED display delivers stunning visuals with a 120Hz refresh rate and 2160Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort.

Durability is a key focus, with an aerospace-grade steel hinge designed to withstand 400,000 folds. The V Flip2 also supports folding angles between 30 and 150 degrees, providing flexibility for various usage scenarios.

Under the hood, the device is powered by a MediaTek Dimensity 8020 chip, paired with the Android 14-based HiOS, 8 GB RAM and 256 GB storage. The phone comes with a large 4,720mAh battery that supports 70W fast charging.

In terms of photography, the V Flip2 packs a triple camera setup, including a 50MP main camera, a 50MP ultra-wide lens with a 150-degree field of view, and a 32MP selfie camera. The cover screen has additional features like interactive pets, mini-games, and a full keyboard.

Pricing & availability

The PHANTOM V Flip2 will be available starting September 23, 2024, in Africa, with launches to follow in Southeast Asia, the Middle East, and Latin America. It is priced at USD 699. It is available in Travertine Green and Moondust Grey color options.
