A recent Weibo post by the prominent leaker Digital Chat Station has shed light on the gaming prowess of the upcoming iPhone 16 Pro series. In a series of Genshin Impact tests, the iPhone’s A18 Pro chipset was pitted against the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and Dimensity 9300+.
The results, while preliminary, suggest that Apple’s A18 Pro offers superior efficiency. All three chipsets were able to maintain a consistent 60fps frame rate during the game, but the A18 Pro achieved this while consuming significantly less power. The A18 Pro used 4.05 watts, compared to 5.81 watts for the 8 Gen 3 and 5.61 watts for the 9300+.

However, the story doesn’t end there. The post also includes thermal imaging shots that reveal a surprising detail: the iPhone 16 Pro’s rivals appear to be prototypes. Their camera modules are blurred out, suggesting these are the phones that are yet to be officially announced.

Despite the blurred camera modules, we can still glean some information from the images. The camera housing design of one of the prototypes resembles the iQOO Z9 Turbo, hinting at the possibility of an upcoming Turbo+ model which will be powered by the Dimensity 9300+.
The other prototype features a round camera module similar to the OnePlus 12 or its Ace 3 Pro variant. However, there’s a bit of a tweak in the design here. It doesn’t have frame side accents in the camera module like recent OnePlus flagships.
So this could be the highly anticipated Ace 5, a smartphone rumored to debut with the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and be rebranded as the 13R for global markets. The display of the Ace 5 also seems to be flat, aligning with previous rumors about the 13R’s design.
That’s a guess we made based on rumors, so we suggest you to take these details with a pinch of salt.
