Many of the upcoming Snapdragon 8 Gen 4 and Dimensity 9400-powered flagships will pack much larger batteries than their predecessors. However, while the battery life is expected to improve, many people are concerned about the weight and in-hand experience of the upcoming flagships.

According to previous rumors, the Oppo Find X8 packs a 5700 mAh battery, which is a significant upgrade compared to the 5000 mAh battery of the predecessor. There were comments on social media platforms asking if the weight had surpassed 200g. In the latest news, the product manager of the Oppo Find X8 series has shared an image confirming that the phone weighs less than 200 grams despite packing a larger battery.

He mentioned that the Oppo Find N2 was one of the first devices to focus on weight reduction strategies. The company has reportedly adopted similar strategies to reduce the weight of the Oppo Find X8 lineup. While he specifically talked about the base model, we can also expect the Find X8 Pro and Find X8 Ultra to be lighter than expected.
But how is this possible? Well, Oppo is using high-density silicon anode batteries for the Find X8 series. For those unfamiliar, this is the same battery technology that has been used to manufacture extremely thin batteries for phones such as the Honor Magic V3. It was previously revealed that Oppo’s new battery tech offers higher energy density (an industry-leading 763Wh/L) compared to traditional graphite batteries. In comparison, the Oppo Find X7 weighs 202 g with its 5000 mAh battery.
In terms of performance, both the Oppo Find X8 and Find X8 Pro will be powered by the Dimensity 9400 chipset, which is officially confirmed to launch on October 9. The chipset is rumored to pack much-improved graphics performance as compared to its predecessor, the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 and the A18 Pro that powers the iPhone 16 Pro models. So, paired with the larger battery, users can expect a reasonable improvement in gaming performance as compared to the Oppo Find X7.
