TCL has introduced the Thunderbird U9, a new 27-inch gaming monitor in the Chinese market. The monitor is priced at 3,699 yuan ($520) and it is now up for sale on JD.com. Let’s check out its key specs.

The Thunderbird U9 features a 3840×2160 resolution (4K) with TCL’s FAST-HVA panel, a 165Hz refresh rate, and advanced 10-bit color depth (8-bit + FRC) for vivid visuals.
It uses Mini LED backlighting with 2,304 local dimming zones, ensuring precise lighting control, enhanced clarity, and reduced halo effects, making it ideal for gaming and content creation.
The monitor achieves a peak brightness of 1600 nits and supports HDR 1400, allowing for stunning HDR visuals that closely mimic natural light. The static contrast ratio stands at 4000:1, while the dynamic contrast ratio reaches 1,000,000:1, enhancing details in darker scenes.
It utilizes QD Quantum Dot Wide Color Gamut technology, covering 95% of the DCI-P3 color gamut and 99% of the sRGB color spectrum, delivering accurate colors suitable for both gamers and professionals.


The monitor comes with a 1ms GTG response time, ensuring minimal lag and blur during fast-paced gaming. It is compatible with both FreeSync Premium and G-Sync, allowing for tear-free gaming across a range of devices. It also has 2x3W built-in speakers.
In terms of connectivity, it includes two HDMI 2.1 ports, a DP 1.4 port, and a USB-C port with 90W power delivery and Display Stream Compression (DSC) for high-resolution connections. It also has two USB-A 3.0 ports, a USB-B 3.0 upstream port, and a 3.5mm headphone jack.
The monitor also features a tilt, pivot, and height-adjustable stand for comfort and versatility. It comes with a Light Wing back design that adds a sci-fi touch with integrated RGB lighting and a hidden headphone hook for convenient storage.
The Thunderbird U9 includes a KVM switch for controlling two PCs with one set of peripherals. It supports Picture-in-Picture (PIP) and Picture-by-Picture (PBP) modes for multitasking, along with two low blue light modes for eye protection during extended use.
