Samsung has firmly established itself as the leading smartphone brand in India by value for the third consecutive quarter in 2024. At the same time, the South Korean tech giant has announced exciting offers for those looking forward to purchase the Galaxy Z Fold 6 or Galaxy Z Flip 6.
Samsung’s Q3 2024 market share
According to Counterpoint Research, Samsung accounted for a 23 percent market share in Q3 2024, contributing significantly to the Indian smartphone market’s highest-ever value achieved in a single quarter. This growth reflects a 12 percent year-on-year increase in value, driven by the premiumization trend and aggressive marketing strategies such as EMI offers and trade-ins.
Senior Research Analyst Prachir Singh highlighted that Samsung’s dominance is due to its focus on high-end Galaxy S series devices and the introduction of Galaxy AI features in mid-range and affordable premium models within the A series. This approach has encouraged consumers to upgrade to higher-priced segments, thereby boosting the company’s market value.
The volume of smartphones sold also saw a 3 percent year-on-year increase, aided by the early onset of the festive season. Manufacturers ensured that retailers were well-stocked in anticipation of a surge in festive sales, although the sales commenced at a slower pace compared to the previous year.
In line with its strategic market manoeuvres, Samsung has also launched enticing offers on its latest foldable smartphones, the Galaxy Z Fold 6 and Z Flip 6. As part of a limited-period festive offer, consumers can purchase the Z Fold 6 for as low as Rs 1,44,999 with a 24-month no-cost EMI option. Similarly, the Z Flip 6 is available for just Rs 89,999 with the same EMI plan. These devices are originally priced at Rs 1,64,999 and Rs 1,09,999 respectively.
For added consumer assurance, Samsung has slashed the price of its Galaxy Z Assurance program to just Rs 999. This program, which offers comprehensive device protection and allows up to two claims per year, was previously priced at Rs 14,999 for the Galaxy Z Fold6 and Rs 9,999 for the Galaxy Z Flip 6.
