OnePlus launched the performance-focused OnePlus Ace 3 earlier this year in January and has been rumored to be developing its successor.

Now, OnePlus China President Li Jie has officially confirmed the name of the upcoming series as OnePlus Ace 5, skipping the number 4 entirely. His statement also hints at a significant performance leap, claiming it will be “almost a generation ahead” of competitors, aligning with the naming strategy.

The confirmation clears up recent speculation among netizens about whether the new series would retain traditional sequential naming. Along with the announcement, Li Jie shared an intriguing detail: an engineer had demonstrated performance test data that suggested groundbreaking capabilities for the Ace 5 series.

The series is expected to launch in December, featuring the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 processor for the Ace 5 and a Snapdragon 8 Elite for the Ace 5 Pro.

Design-wise, the OnePlus Ace 5 is said to feature a pure straight screen with an upper-left corner round camera module, continuing the minimalist yet bold aesthetic of its predecessors.
