Last month, Redmi unveiled the Redmi K80 and K80 Pro smartphones in China. There have been reports that the brand is also working on a Turbo-branded phone for the home market. In a new development, Redmi General Manager Wang Teng Thomas hinted on a short video platform that Redmi will launch a new device this month, with the keyword “Little Tornado.” He seems to be hinting at the arrival of the Redmi Turbo 4.

Redmi GM hints arrival of Redmi Turbo 4

Reportedly, “Little Tornado” is the codename for the Redmi Turbo series, suggesting that the Redmi Turbo 4 is set to be officially unveiled this month. The device will debut as the world’s first phone powered by the Dimensity 8400 chipset. 

The D8400, which is reportedly made on TSMC’s 4nm process, has a Cortex-A725 large-core architecture and a CPU clock speed of more than 3GHz. It also has the same GPU IP as the Dimensity 9400, which is the Immortalis-G925 MC12. In terms of performance, the Dimensity 8400 has achieved an AnTuTu benchmark score of over 1.7 million, surpassing the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile chipset.

According to reports, the Redmi Turbo 4 will have a flat OLED panel that offers a 1.5K resolution. The 3C certification of the device has revealed that it may support 90W fast charging. In terms of pricing, the device is likely to be priced between 1,500 Yuan (~$205) and 2,000 Yuan (~$275).

Reports have also revealed that Redmi may also announce the Redmi Turbo 4 Pro in the coming year. This phone is likely to feature the Snapdragon 8s Elite chipset. In the global market, the Turbo 4 and Turbo 4 Pro may get rebranded as the Poco X7 and Poco F7, respectively.
